In the Antarctica series, Sanborn and Fitzgerald explore creative collaborations with contemporary musicians. Shot in Saskatchewan and featuring music by David Van Tieghem, And Now This transforms landscape through technology. Inspired by the music of Peter Gordon and his Love of Life Orchestra, Siberia intercuts images of ghostly landscapes in Antarctica and Siberia with images of a deserted inner city. Wayne Hays Blues is a satire of Washington's sexual politics, set to music by Jill Kroesen. In Ear to the Ground, percussionist Van Tieghem uses New York City as his musical instrument, "playing" the surfaces of the sidewalks, buildings and phone booths with his drumsticks. Set to the music of Jimi Hendrix, Wild Thing is a fast-paced reminiscence of the sexual revolution of the 1960s, and the sober "morning after." Nipple to the Bottle is a music video for the Grace Jones dance hit of the same title. Heartbeat combines nonlinear narrative and technology in a tale of love, loss and obsession, underscored by King Crimson's moody music. Made in collaboration with artist and engineer Dean Winkler and musician Adrian Belew, Big Electric Cat is an experiment in image-processing using computer graphic and Paintbox systems.
